After three days of intense competition, our swimmers are finally back home with amazing achievements from MSSJ 2026. We celebrate our talented scholars, Ng Xi Rui and Ng Xi En, for their outstanding performances throughout the championship. Ng Xi Rui brought home two Silver medals, while Ng Xi En won nine Gold medals and broke eight MSSJ records! To make it even more special, Ng Xi En was crowned the U12 Category Champion and also named the Overall Champion of MSSJ 2026. We would like to congratulate all our swimmers who qualified and competed at MSSJ this year. Alongside our Invictus Horizon Hills official Grand Opening, we hosted our much-anticipated Family Fiesta, which quickly became the highlight of the day. Coupons for food and games sold out as students, families, guests, and members of the public poured in to join the fun. The children adored the bouncy castles and the delightfully eerie Haunted Hospital, while the Petting Zoo, featuring lizards and snakes, was certainly not for the faint-hearted. Carnival favourites included zorbing, gel blaster shooting, and a dunking booth where brave attendees hit the target to send teachers plunging into a water tank. For food lovers, the World Food Fair corner and local food trucks served up delicious bites such as Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, Kway Teow, spicy Ayam Gunting, Korean and Japanese light bites, Indian tea, cakes, pastries, ice-cream and ice-cold fresh Milo, perfect for cooling down in the intense afternoon heat. The atmosphere in the multipurpose hall during the Year 3 and Year 4 Storytelling Competition finals was electric. Long before the first story began, the hall buzzed with the energetic chatter and eager anticipation of young supporters, who had come not just to watch, but to wholeheartedly cheer on their classmates. Many had come prepared with handcrafted placards, each word a small beacon of encouragement for the brave performers about to take the stage. The finalists stepped into the spotlight, confidently weaving classic fairytales, alongside original stories born from their own imaginations. Several contestants arrived in stunning character costumes, complete with visual touches and props. Throughout the competition, the judges , Mr Siva and Ms Annisa, evaluated each performance based on creative storytelling skills, such as voice modulation, expression, and originality, as well as overall presentation, including stage presence, eye contact, and the effective use of costumes and props. Our Invictus Horizon Hills campus officially celebrated its Grand Opening with distinguished guests from both Johor and Singapore joining us for this momentous occasion. Three years ago, the campus began with just 80 students; today, it has grown into a thriving international school of over 800 students, with even more nationalities continuing to join our cohorts. Ms. Alexa Tang, Board Member of the Invictus Group of Schools, Mr. Mannan, our Principal, and Mr. Sadiq, President of the Parent Support Group (PSG), addressed the audience with heartfelt wishes, welcoming the guests and celebrating the successes we have achieved so far. The festive atmosphere was brought to life by a traditional Chinese drum performance, a lively lion dance, and a spirited medley of songs and dances by our Glee Club students. The highly anticipated Year 5 Storytelling Competition was held in the warm and welcoming school Library bringing together an excited audience of teachers, proud parents, and cheering classmates for a lively and engaging event. The atmosphere was filled with a wonderful sense of community and encouragement as families gathered to support their young storytellers. Taking the stage one by one, the students impressed everyone by sharing their carefully rehearsed stories entirely from memory, delivering them with remarkable confidence, expressive voices, and dramatic flair that far exceeded their years. Some stories sparkled with humour, drawing laughter and applause from the audience as students delivered punchlines with perfect timing, while others wove heartfelt lessons about kindness, honesty, and perseverance, leaving a quiet but powerful impression on listeners of all ages. Our Year 6 and Year 9 students, together with their parents, attended Parent-Teacher Conferences held in our school's Multipurpose Hall. During the meetings, Primary Homeroom teachers and Secondary subject teachers engaged in meaningful discussions with families, focusing not only on students' current academic progress but also on their preparations for the upcoming Cambridge Checkpoint examinations in May. The Kangaroo Mathematics Competition 2026 had the enthusiastic participation of 91 students from both Primary and Secondary levels. The event brought together young learners with a shared interest in problem-solving and critical thinking, creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. The competition featured multiple-choice questions with five answer options, challenging students to think carefully and strategically. The questions were designed to cover five key areas: logical reasoning, spatial sense (geometry), number theory and arithmetic, combinatorics, and real-life word problems. This diverse range ensured that participants could apply both their mathematical knowledge and analytical skills in meaningful ways. The competition was a great success, providing students with an opportunity to challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop a deeper appreciation for mathematics. Our Early Years celebrated World Book Day with a lively and memorable assembly, featuring a very special guest, the Mad Hatter. The children were delighted as he brought energy and excitement while reading the story, The Gruffalo, and everyone enjoyed taking part in two fun dance songs together across all three classes. It was also wonderful to see so many children dressed up in outfits reflecting their favourite stories, and we truly appreciate the effort parents made in helping the children come to school in their costumes. As part of our Book Week celebrations, our Early Years classes enjoyed a fun and engaging storytelling experience outside of their classrooms. Across all three classes, the children listened to stories brought to life through expressive reading, joining in with repeated phrases and showing great enthusiasm. This helped to build their love of books while supporting early language and comprehension skills. As our third drama production and first drama musical, Alice: A Wonderland Musical marks a milestone for Invictus International School Horizon Hills, representing the culmination of a journey that began with June 2025 auditions and intensive rehearsals since September. This production served as a masterclass in creative growth, where students mastered the technical precision of stagecraft and utilised improvisation to bring Lewis Carroll’s nonsensical world to life through student-led "happy accidents."
